Ingredients:
- 3 blood oranges, thinly sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
- Maldon sea salt flakes, for garnish
Instructions:
Warm the oven up to 200F 93C
Put parchment paper on the bottom of a baking sheet
Put the fennel seeds, water, and granulated sugar in a small saucepan
Over medium-low heat, bring to a simmer and stir every now and then until the sugar is completely dissolved
When the syrup starts to bubble, add the blood orange slices
They should be cooked for about 10 minutes, or until they are soft and a little clear
Take them out of the syrup and arrange them in a single layer on the baking sheet that has been prepared
After the oven is hot, bake the orange slices for one to two hours, or until they are dry and a little crispy
When the orange slices are cool enough to serve, sprinkle them with Maldon sea salt flakes
Enjoy these gluten-free blood orange chips that have been candied and have a hint of fennel
